Originally, American Hoist & Derrick Co. (Locomotive Crane Division) in St. Paul, Minnesota and the Ohio Locomotive Crane Co. in Bucyrus, Ohio merged in 1987 as American & Ohio Locomotive Crane Co. In 2001, ERS Industries, Inc. purchased the American & Ohio Locomotive Crane Co. ERS Industries, Inc. is now the owner and OEM for both, American & Ohio Locomotive Cranes.

ERS Industries, Inc. was founded in 1936, supplying railroad track equipment and locomotive cranes to the railroads, steel mills, and the scrap recycling industries.
Eastern Railway Supplies (Canada) Ltd.
Eastern Railway Supplies (Canada) Ltd. was established in November 1964 to provide representation of railway maintenance equipment, parts, and service to the Canadian railway, steel, and scrap industries. This wholly owned subsidiary of ERS Industries, Inc. was renamed North American Equipment Sales (Canada) Ltd. in a 1999 corporate restructuring. NAES (Canada) Ltd. continues to serve the Canadian marketplace with offices in Dundas and Mississauga, ON.
Stanley H. Smith Co. Inc.
Stanley H. Smith Co., Inc was founded in 1923 in Cleveland, Ohio, and later relocated to Nicholasville, KY. In a 1999 corporate restructuring at ERS Industries, Inc., Stanley H. Smith & Co., and Eastern Railway Supplies, Inc. (railroad equipment arm) of West Seneca, NY joined together to form North American Equipment Sales Co., Inc. with offices in Kentucky and Pennsylvania.
